The most interesting encounter of the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park natural attraction is the floating observatory, where you can go below the water's surface to view the thousands of fresh and saltwater fish and the manatees. Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is one of the few places in the world where manatees can be observed at close range 365 days a year.
We, of course, feed the manatees on a regular basis. While your visiting it is very likely you will see our manatees table manners. As shown in the photograph on the right, the do enjoy their meals and have excellent manners.

Amanda
She was born in the wild on July 19, 1966. Amanda was rescued on Christmas Day, 1973, after suffering severe injuries from a motorboat propeller. She was brought to HSSWP from Lake Worth Inlet Miami Seaquarium. She is the mother of Homosassa Springs manatees Ariel, Star and Betsy.
Ariel
She was born in the wild on December 11, 1973. She was brought to HSSWP on December 25, 1973 from Lake Worth Inlet Miami Seaquarium.
Betsy
She was born at HSSWP on October 19, 1990.
Holly
She was born on December 20, 1994 at St. Lucie Power Plant. She was brought to HSSWP on December 20, 1995 from Sea World.
Lorelei
Born on May 3, 1975. She was brought to HSSWP on July 14, 1986, and returned from Epcot April 7, 1994.
Oakley
She was born on December 20, 1994 at Indian River Intercoastal Oak Hill. She was brought to HSSWP on December 20, 1995 from Sea World.
Rosie
Born in the wild on December 27, 1967. She was brought to HSSWP on September 6, 1968 from Marineland.
Willoughby
She was born in the wild on June 21, 1994 at St. Lucie River. She was brought to HSSWP on June 29, 1995.
